National Bloc: For the immediate publication of the forensic audit report and the adoption of absolute transparency in the file to hold the responsibles accountable.

The National Bloc released the following statement:

The attempt by Finance Minister Youssef Khalil to hide the preliminary report of the forensic audit prepared by Alvarez & Marsal is nothing more than a continuation of the ongoing collusion and clear neglect in the face of any auditing and accountability efforts. The way the authorities have dealt with this issue from day one, from the Finance Minister to the Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri and up to the Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon Riad Salameh, has always been to obstruct and procrastinate, which highlights irresponsibility and an attempt to evade punishment, as it indicates the condemnation of all these individuals in the process of plundering and wasting public money, leading us to a complete crisis and collapse.

The Finance Minister himself is obstructing judicial appointments to complete the investigation into the port explosion and continues to follow the directives of his superiors to hide the truth from the public. Today, he hides the forensic audit report under baseless and illogical pretexts.

What is required today is to end the obstructionist approach and adopt absolute transparency in dealing with the forensic audit file, as it is a fundamental point in the path to get out of the crisis through accountability. It is also one of the conditions of the agreement that Lebanon signed with the International Monetary Fund.
