The National Bloc issued the following statement:
It is positive that the 2026 budget comes without a deficit, in a country accustomed to budgets burdened with imbalances or, at times, no budget at all. However, this alone is not enough to describe it as a reformist budget or one capable of addressing the scale of the ongoing crisis. It is no longer acceptable to approve budgets without finalizing the previous year’s accounts, in clear violation of the law and the most basic rules of financial discipline.
The Bloc also regrets that the 2026 budget, like its predecessors, is simply a set of financial and technical tables that do not reflect any reformist vision for the state and its administration, nor any broader economic and political project for the country.
A comprehensive reform plan, requiring bold decisions that are long overdue, has become an urgent national necessity to place Lebanon on the path of recovery and growth and to catch up with the rest of the region.
