The National Bloc Meets with the President of the Republic: Supporting the Establishment of a Fully Sovereign State

The National Bloc issued the following statement:

A delegation from the National Bloc visited President of the Republic General Joseph Aoun at Baabda Palace, where they discussed the latest political developments in the country.

The delegation reaffirmed the Bloc’s full support for the President of the Republic and the government in their efforts to restore the state’s role and sovereignty, and in their work to extend its authority over all Lebanese territory, thereby consolidating a state governed by the Constitution and guided by the interests of its people.

The delegation also expressed its support for the negotiation process that led to the US-sponsored trilateral framework agreement, considering it a pathway toward resolving outstanding issues, foremost among them the complete Israeli withdrawal, the extension of state authority over all Lebanese territory, and the exclusive control of weapons by the country’s legitimate institutions.

The National Bloc stressed that Lebanon’s national interest requires that Lebanon alone lead negotiations on behalf of the Lebanese state and reclaim its sovereign decision-making, free from any occupation, tutelage, or external interference. This would ensure that the Lebanese file is removed from the hands of regional powers, foremost among them the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The delegation concluded by affirming that the success of this process could pave the way toward turning the page on the longstanding conflict between Lebanon and Israel, through the resolution of all outstanding issues in accordance with the principles of sovereignty and Lebanon’s national interest, thereby creating the conditions for recovery and prosperity.

The delegation included Secretary-General Michel Helou; Head of Political Relations Camille Morani; Executive Committee Member Hussein Al-Ashi; President of the Council of Elders André Nader; President of the Party Council Tarek Sakr; Head of Field Operations Dr. Josephine Zogheib; and Secretary Rita Abou Nader.
