The National Bloc: The Concept of Deterrence Has Completely Fallen

The raid and abduction operation that took place in Batroun marks a dangerous escalation in the nature of Israel’s war on Lebanon.
It proves that the country is entirely exposed to the Israeli military machine and its intelligence services, after those who claimed to “defend and deter”, failed to protect Lebanon and its people.
In this context, we condemn the campaigns targeting the Lebanese Army by those who, for years, have worked tirelessly to weaken all official institutions.
The Lebanese state must retake initiative, fulfill its duty to protect all Lebanese, activate and strengthen its official institutions, and uncover the circumstances surrounding the Batroun operation. As long as the state’s sovereignty and authority to lead the negotiations for a ceasefire are confiscated, the country will keep being exposed to further tragedies that no one can bare.
