The National Bloc: Appointments Must Reflect a Sovereign and Reformist Approach
The National Bloc released the following statement:
Administrative and military appointments for top-tier positions are a fundamental milestone in the process of restoring and reforming the state.
Accordingly, regarding the leadership of the army and other military and security agencies, the National Bloc relies on the wisdom of the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, and the government in selecting the most competent officers, those committed to upholding the state's sovereignty, without resorting to political and sectarian quotas or the culture of compromises and deal-making that have led us to the current situation.
As for the governorship of the Central Bank of Lebanon, we reaffirm our demand for the appointment of a new governor who is entirely free from any suspicions or conflicts of interest. This appointment must ensure the implementation of necessary reforms, including sound governance, forensic auditing, banking sector restructuring, fairness to depositors, and the establishment of a transparent and effective monetary policy.
