The National Bloc issued the following statement:
What is being prepared in terms of extending the mandate of Parliament for two years is highly questionable. If an extension is deemed necessary at this time due to the ongoing war, it should rather be limited to a short and reasonable period directly linked to the end of the war’s consequences.
Any postponement beyond that only confirms that the real reasons behind this extension are not limited to the exceptional circumstances being invoked, but also serve the private interests of the majority of political actors, especially in light of the attempts we have witnessed to exclude the diaspora.
The National Bloc, while urging parliamentary blocs to return to the spirit of the Constitution, calls on them not to persist in violating the law by extending their own mandate for a period that exceeds necessity. Such a step would respect the principle of the rotation of power and place the higher national interest above narrow personal calculations.
