National Bloc: Justification for postponing the Order of Physicians’ elections in Beirut due to corona is not valid

The Physicians’ Sector of the Lebanese National Bloc Party released the following statement:

After holding the elections in both the Order of Physicians and the Order of Engineers and Architects in Tripoli and North Lebanon, we ask about the real reason behind postponing the elections in Beirut’s Order of Physicians until next fall.

It seems that the ruling system of the parties in power is attempting to disrupt the democratic practices of the trade union process, especially in our Order of Physicians, as it expects losing its influence and grip, after having lost its credibility even among the closest party followers inside it.

Based on our adherence to democratic and trade union norms and customs, we call on the President of the Order of Physicians, Dr. Sharaf Abu Sharaf, to immediately schedule a date to hold the elections.

The justification for postponing the democratic process in Beirut’s Order of Physicians due to the repercussions of the corona pandemic is not valid, as the elections of the Order of Physicians and the Order of Engineers and Architects, in Tripoli and North Lebanon, were held in accordance with the mandatory health conditions, not to mention the fact that all doctors were already vaccinated.
