National Bloc: After Another Chapter of Israeli Barbarism, Protecting Lebanon Must be the Priority

We, in the National Bloc, strongly condemn yet another instance of Israeli criminality in Lebanon, a flagrant violation of all international and moral norms.

We mourn the innocent victims and pray for a speedy recovery for the wounded. We also extend our gratitude to the Lebanese hospitals, doctors, nurses, and first responders who are treating the injured under extraordinary conditions.

In light of the savage Israeli attacks over the past two days, and the possibility of further escalation, it is critical that everyone acts with the utmost wisdom and caution. The time has come to reverse the course set by Hezbollah on October 8th, by bringing the Lebanese government to the negotiating table and signing a ceasefire agreement before it is too late. This agreement must be grounded in the deployment of the Lebanese Army in the south, supported by international forces in line with Resolution 1701, and reinforced by a unified national front that strengthens Lebanon’s defense.

The immense loss Lebanon has endured—its people, its youth, and its children—and the shattered sense of security among its citizens, demands a new approach. We must rally behind the Lebanese state and its institutions in confronting external threats, as it is evident that only the state has the power to deter Lebanon’s enemies.
